I was very happy to see the inclusion of Histogram, Box & Whisker, Tree Map and Sunburst chart types for the Mac version of Excel 2016 with the Jan 18, 2018 update. Perhaps I don't know enough about these charts. I'm having an issue re: Legend and Axis formatting. On any other chart type (Bar/Column/Line, etc), if I right click on the Horizontal Axis and click 'Format Axis', I get a selection box to the right with various tabs and options in those tabs. However, when I click on the Horizontal Legend or Axis on a Histogram, Box and Whisker, Tree Map or Sunburst (the newly introduced chart types), I can right click and select 'Format Legend' or 'Format Axis', but the Format box to the right does not appear, or if it does, no options are presented. Specifically, I was trying to format the bin values on a Histogram.

Not sure if that will help. I'm guessing the 'Format Legend' and 'Format Axis' selection call the same api.

So if one chart works and one doesn't, then there is something wrong with mods made to the api to support the new chart types. I'm surprised nobody else has seen this problem yet, but then again, there might not be that many Mac users of Office 2016 with the update yet. FYI, I also tried this on a early 2011 Macbook Pro with a 1Tb SSD and 16Gb RAM, running High Sierra. I'm guessing this new installation would qualify as a 'Repair'. Format Legend and Format Axis individual parameters never appear.

Hopefully, an Office 2016 for Mac user will pop up at some point and try this functionality on their system. I will report the issue through Uservoice. What I really don't understand is how the Microsoft QA team could have missed testing this very fundamental core behavior before product release. Wasn't there a Beta test period, and if so, did Microsoft not receive ANY complaints about lack of functionality re: formatting the Axes? Doesn't the Microsoft team test Axis formatting after the programmers submit the code for test? How to recall an email in outlook for mac. Please do the same internally. That explanation, although prompt and courteous, does not explain why a company that introduces 4 new chart types does not test critical chart functionality to ensure it works. I can't use Histogram, because I can't manipulate Bin size.
