Best Software To Replace Quicken For Mac
So when Quicken 2007 for Lion came out, I paid the $15 and have been happy with it. If you truly feel that you need the latest and greatest software, get something else, but for me, Quicken 2007 works, it has the bells and whistles I need, and that is enough for me.
Click to expand.I've been using MoneyDance for several years now on my Mac. I wasn't aware that it was available for iPad (I don't do iPads), but it appears to be. It is quite a bit more than just a checkbook program, so perhaps it might not be the best thing for your needs. I can't judge that. I did want more than a checkbook program; I wanted to also handle my credit cards, track stock investments, real estate, loans, and a business that I had til about a year ago. You might find you prefer something simpler.
But it is at least an option to check. One of the things I definitely like about MoneyDance (besides not being an Intuit product, which is a good start) is that it is not tied tightly to any particular platform. You can get it for Windows, Mac, Linux. And apparently iPhone/iPad. I've been using MoneyDance for several years now on my Mac. Click to expand.I found mint.com which is a free online financial service owned by Intuit. While it looks to be something to consider strongly as it can be used both with the iOS devices and OSX, it struck me that because of their business model for this service, that you might expect to get spammed to death with offers and such. Note that they are upfront about how they can offer the service for free.
One thing that seems odd, or maybe I just looked wrong, is that it doesn't seem to keep a running balance but does something overnight to massage things. Anyone here used this service? I keep hoping for a pleasant surprise with the Lion release.[/QUOTE] So do I, but meanwhile, I'm ordering a new iMac now so that I'll have Snow Leopard and therefore Rosetta for the foreseeable future.

(My current desktop Mac has 10.2 and this MacBook has 10.4.) Thanks to everyone here for the heads-up on Quicken; I'm doing the whole Snow Leopard thing to preserve Eudora, and hadn't gotten around to finding out which of my other programs would be affected by the removal of Rosetta. Nor had I realized how badly Intuit had dropped the ball with Mac versions of Quicken.:-( I use Direct Connect between my bank and Quicken, so I want to keep running Quicken 2006 as long as possible. When the time comes, I'll meander over to comp.sys.mac.apps and ask for advice on a replacement.
