Solution: I think it is a port / protocol conflict between OS X mail client / Outlook, the work around should be to force quit Outlook, followed by opening OS X mail client, choose in menu MailBox -> Take All Accounts Offline and quit OS X mail. Now start Outlook, and it should work. Now start OS X mail client, choose in menu MailBox -> Take All Accounts Online, even this will start working.
