Mac Driver For Hp G4050

Having now passed from 'late October' in to November, my latest Active chat with an HP instant Support Professional reveals 'Please give us sometime, it is likely to release by this month. Once the software is released, we will update in the website.' I like the scanner, I really like my HP A3 printer, but I don't see myself being able to buy HP again after this experience. I have the scanner because I need it, and going without it for several weeks isn't acceptable. I have nearly 3 months left on the warranty, and may well try to get a more recent replacement from the retailer (non-HP of course).

BTW I looked at VueScan as someone else had mentioned this as a solution in another blog. It appears to work for most Snow Leopard users, but I'm one of the few that it doesn't work for - despite the personal attention of Ed Hamrick.

Well worth a look if you don't mind paying. Www.hamrick.com Message was edited by: Weeto. Agreed, VueScan is a great solution, and I recommend it all the time. And quite frankly, I don't blame you (or any other Mac user) for not wanting an HP ScanJet. If I could support these devices or get the drivers out any quicker, trust me I would. On the flip side, the Ink based All-in-ones had Scan drivers included on the Snow Leopard DVD (that is something I have control over).

And I understand your frustration, I'm still waiting for drivers for my Fujitsu ScanSnap S510M. Once I have an ETA on the G4050 I will post it. Just trying to help. Thanks for the updates Andrew. As for myself, VueScan hasn't worked for me either so this isn't an option.

I suppose my question would be this: given the size of HP as a corporation I cannot believe that they don't have a full time staff devoted JUST toward maintaining drivers for their relatively small line of scanners (and other printers, too). It just seems so counter-intuitive to wait until AFTER an OS is released to then focus on updating the drivers. To clarify, though, are you saying mid November at the latest?
