I tried what you suggested - unchecking 'Show in IMAP' for the All Mail label from my Gmail settings - but that causes a sync error. After trying a few things I found out that if I setup my Gmail account automatically in Outlook, it requires the main folders to be synced, including Inbox, Sent Mail, and All Mail. If I setup the account manually as a standard IMAP account, then I'm able to disable the All Mail folder. Unfortunately, if I set it up that way, I lose the Focused Inbox.

So it looks like I'm stuck if I want to both use the Focused Inbox (which is why I like Outlook) and disable the All Mail folder from synchronizing (which I need to do because it slows down Outlook). I'll let you know if I figure out another way to get this all working together.
