As anyone can verify in the AutoCAD Saveas dialog box, the DWG format changed in R14 (1997), R2000, R2004, R2007, R2010, R2013, and R2018. So you can see that it’s been about every three years between versions, except for the latest version, which has been five years. How is AutoCAD for Mac different from AutoCAD for Windows? 2018 uses a new.DWG (drawing file) format, providing improvements in the efficiency of open and save operations. AutoCAD 2018 can open and edit older file format versions 2.x and later, and it can save.DWG formats back to the 1998 version (AutoCAD R14).
So a few minutes ago I installed my trial of AutoCAD LT 2015 for Mac and it won't start. Naturally, I proceeded to the Autodesk website to report my problem, and was surprised to find that there is NO APPARENT WAY OF CONTACTING COSTUMER SERVICE OR TECHNICAL SUPPORT DIRECTLY!!!!! The only option, it seems, is to post my woes on this forum and hope for a solution. At least I am relieved that I haven't purchased the product yet, and am only dealing with a trial. If I had purchased the product, and was not able to contact customer support, It would be a whole different story. So, does anyone know why this is happening to me? Why won't Autocad 2015 LT run on my Mac?
I've updated to the most recent relase of OS X Yosemite. Everything else is working fine. PS Seriously, it's upsurd that I can't access direct support from Autodesk! If there IS a way of contacting Autodesk directly, please let me know. Thanks for your help. I did the following: 1.
Downloaded the software (AutoCAD LT 2015 for Mac) from the Autodesk site over night 2. Ran the installation this morning (No problems with the installation) 3. When installation finished, attempted to run the software 4. App icon on my dock, just bounced for a long time, and the program didn't start 5.
Noticed Autodesk 360 icon on Task Bar, and thinking it might have something to do with the problem, proceeded to sign in. I had to Force Quit and attempted to start te program again, and again. At one point, the AutoCAD startup screen (the small rectangle that tells you that the program is loading) appeared, but I still could't move past that step, so I restarted the program yet again, and nothing.
Tried restarting the computer. Went online to report my experience, and here I am.
I am running on the latest version of OS X--Yosemite 10.10. No previous AutoCAD installation.
In addition, this computer was formatted prior to installing the latest version of OS X. Everything else is working properly.
Hello again, Once I resolved the issues I had initially, I've been able to play around with the trial, for which I still have a few days remaining. I am very inclined to purchasing the product, however, I am still having a lot of trouble simply starting the application. Once it starts, it works perfectly, however, getting it to start takes at least 4 to 5 (LONG) attempts. I start it once, and then, after a few minutes of waiting, I have to force quit the program in order to try again. Is this is a recurring issue with AutoCAD for Mac? Can this be fixed or is this just a bug on the Mac version of the software?
